When we write or speak English, we can express the same idea in two ways: Active Voice and Passive Voice.
Both are grammatically correct, but they serve different purposes.
In this lesson, youβll learn what they mean, when to use each, and how to change a sentence from active to passive easily.
In Active Voice, the subject performs the action of the verb.
Itβs direct, clear, and commonly used in everyday English.
Structure:
π Subject + Verb + Object
Examples:
π‘ Tip: Use active voice when you want to make your writing strong and personal.
In Passive Voice, the subject receives the action of the verb.
The doer (the agent) may or may not be mentioned.
Structure:
π Object + be + Past Participle (+ by + Subject)
Examples:
π‘ Tip: Use passive voice when the doer is unknown, unimportant, or obvious.
Follow these 3 simple steps π
1οΈβ£ Identify the object of the active sentence.
